Five days is the minimum for the Andamans, and it requires accepting that you will leave things out. This itinerary uses Port Blair for history and Havelock for beaches, with only two ferry crossings, so you spend more time on the sand than on the sea.

Who it suits: couples, friends and families who want a short island break. What it leaves out: Neil, Baratang and diving beyond a single session. For those, see the 7-day itinerary.

Seasonal tweaks: from November to April the plan is as written. In October and May, keep a buffer day. In the monsoon, we recommend a different destination.

How the days are balanced. Day 1 is arrival and history. Day 2 is the ferry to Havelock and sunset. Day 3 is for Elephant Beach. Day 4 is the return to Port Blair, kept light. Day 5 is departure. Do not dive on Day 4.

What each day gives you. The first evening is about history, the second day about beaches and sunsets and the third about the reef, so the trip has a clear shape even though it is short. Making the most of it. Start each day early, since the best light and calmest water come before noon, and keep the afternoons slow. Getting around. Private taxis and ferries link everything. Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do I need for the Andamans?

Six or seven days covers Port Blair, Havelock and Neil Island at a comfortable pace. Five days works if you skip Neil. Because ferries are weather-dependent and the islands are a flight away, anything under five days feels rushed. Add days if you want to dive, visit Baratang or explore the north.

How do ferries between the islands work?

Private high-speed ferries and government ferries link Port Blair, Havelock and Neil, with crossings of roughly one to two and a half hours. Tickets are booked in advance, schedules change with the season and weather, and sailings are cancelled in rough seas. We suggest a buffer of at least half a day before any flight home.

What is the best time to visit the Andaman Islands?

November to April is the main season, with calm seas, clear water and good visibility for snorkelling and diving. October and May are shoulder months with fewer crowds. June to September is the monsoon, when ferries are disrupted and many water activities are suspended. Cyclone risk is higher around April to May and October to December, so keep flexibility.
