Darjeeling and Sikkim Honeymoon Packages

Quiet mountain stays for couples in Darjeeling, Pelling and Gangtok: tea gardens, Kanchenjunga sunrises, monasteries and evenings on MG Marg.

Need a different route or pace?

Tell us your travel dates, group size, starting point, preferred stay category and budget range. We will use those details to prepare a more relevant Darjeeling and Sikkim plan.

Darjeeling and Sikkim suit couples who like mountains, tea gardens, monasteries and quiet evenings. It is a gentler honeymoon than a beach trip: slow mornings, a cup of first-flush tea, a drive through mist, a candlelit dinner in a heritage hotel and a ridge walk at sunset. It is also a trip where weather and roads play a big part, so the planning matters.

What our couple plans usually include

  • Two nights in Darjeeling, in a heritage hotel or a quiet property on the ridge, with a sunrise at Tiger Hill and a Toy Train joyride.
  • Two nights in Pelling, with Kanchenjunga views, Pemayangtse and Khecheopalri, in a hotel facing the peaks.
  • Two or three nights in Gangtok, with MG Marg in the evening, Rumtek, the ropeway and, if permitted, Tsomgo Lake.
  • A private car and an experienced driver, since mountain roads need local knowledge.
  • Small extras on request, such as a candlelit dinner, a tea tasting, flowers in the room or a photographer, arranged in advance.

Choosing the season

March to May and October to early December are the best months, with the clearest views and comfortable temperatures. December to February is cold and romantic, with snow at higher places such as Tsomgo and Lachung, but roads can close. June to September is the monsoon, with landslides and cloud, and we do not recommend it for honeymoons.

Honest notes for couples

Kanchenjunga is often hidden by cloud, and no operator can promise a clear view. The drive between Pelling and Gangtok is long, at five to six hours. Weekends and holidays are crowded in Darjeeling and Gangtok. Some places, such as Nathu La and parts of North Sikkim, depend on permits and are closed to foreign nationals. We explain what is possible for your passport and dates.

How to pick a package

Start with the Darjeeling and Sikkim honeymoon, 7 nights, which covers three bases. For a shorter trip, the Darjeeling and Gangtok classic uses two. If you want snow and valleys, ask us about the North Sikkim plan.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is Darjeeling and Sikkim good for a honeymoon?

It suits couples who like mountains, tea gardens, monasteries and quiet evenings more than beaches. Darjeeling and Pelling offer views, Gangtok offers cafes and shopping, and Lachung offers snow and valleys in season. Weekends and peak months are crowded, so we choose quiet hotels and midweek stays where possible.

Will I see Kanchenjunga from Darjeeling?

Clear views depend entirely on the weather. October to early December and March to April offer the best chances, usually at sunrise, but cloud can hide the peak at any time. We plan more than one morning at a viewpoint and never promise a clear view, since no honest operator can.

Is it safe to travel in the monsoon?

It can be done in lower places, but landslides, road closures and cancelled permits are common from June to September. If you must go, choose Darjeeling, Kalimpong and Gangtok, keep dates flexible, avoid long single-day drives and expect cloud to hide the views. North Sikkim is generally best avoided in heavy rain.
