How to choose a Himachal package
Start with your time and your tolerance for the road. Four or five days suits a single base such as Manali, or a quieter pairing like Dalhousie and Dharamshala. Six or seven days covers the classic Shimla and Manali loop. Eight or nine days allows Dharamshala as well. Spiti is a separate trip, needing at least a week and gradual acclimatisation.
Next, think about the season. March to June and September to November are the main periods. December to February is for snow. July and August are the monsoon, when highways can close, and we usually shorten or adjust plans. Spiti runs only from mid-June to early October.
What to compare between packages
- The number of bases and the length of drives. Himachal's distances are deceptive; fewer bases usually means more rest.
- Where you start and finish. Chandigarh is the usual gateway for Shimla and Manali, while Pathankot suits Dalhousie and Dharamshala.
- Hotel type and location. A quiet cottage differs from a hotel on the Mall Road.
- Meals. Breakfast and dinner are common inclusions.
- Local costs. Union taxis, ropeways, adventure activities and permits are usually paid directly.
- Peak dates. April to June and winter weekends cost far more than shoulder months.

What we will ask you
To prepare a useful quote we need your travel dates, the number of adults and children with ages, your starting city, preferred hotel category and a rough budget. We will also ask about interests, such as snow, adventure or culture, and anything that limits the plan, such as motion sickness or mobility. None of this is a commitment.
If none of the packages fits, send us your plan and we will draft one.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do I need for Himachal?
Five or six days covers Shimla and Manali at an easy pace. Seven to nine days lets you add Dharamshala or Dalhousie. Spiti needs at least seven days on its own, because the roads are slow and the altitude requires gradual acclimatisation. Trying to cover Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala in five days means long days in the car.
Is Himachal safe to visit in the monsoon?
It can be, but with care. July and August bring landslides and road closures, especially on the Chandigarh to Manali highway and in Kullu, Mandi and Lahaul. Authorities issue weather alerts, and we recommend avoiding high valleys and tight schedules in those months. If you travel then, keep flexible dates and follow local advisories.
Should I choose Shimla or Manali?
Choose Shimla for colonial architecture, easy walks and a gentler climate, especially if you are travelling with elders. Choose Manali for mountain scenery, adventure activities and access to snow points like Solang and, in season, Rohtang. Many travellers combine the two, but the drive between them takes seven to eight hours, so allow two days for that stretch.
Is Spiti Valley suitable for a first Himachal trip?
Usually not. Spiti is a high cold desert with limited facilities and slow roads, and altitude sickness is a real risk. It is best suited to travellers who are fit, flexible and have at least a week. For a first visit, Shimla, Manali and Dharamshala are easier. Indian citizens do not need an inner line permit for the standard circuit.
