Route: Port Blair - Havelock - Port Blair
Places covered: Port Blair, Ross Island, North Bay, Havelock, Radhanagar Beach, Elephant Beach
This is a straightforward group trip with a good mix of sights and beach time. It uses two bases, Port Blair and Havelock, with just two ferry crossings, which makes it easier to manage a group. It leaves room for optional diving or water sports.
Who it suits
Groups of six to twenty people, such as friends, cousins, colleagues or families. It works from November to April. For larger groups, we suggest booking at least three months ahead for peak season, because ferry seats and resort rooms are limited.
How the days flow
On day one, you arrive in Port Blair and visit the Cellular Jail. Day two is for Ross Island and North Bay. On day three, a ferry takes the group to Havelock, with Radhanagar Beach at sunset. Day four is for Elephant Beach and optional dives or water sports. Day five returns you to Port Blair, and day six is departure.
Group notes
- Ferry tickets. We book the group together, and where seats are limited, we split across sailings and keep people informed.
- Rooms. Triple and quad rooms where possible, and resort cottages for larger families.
- Water activities. We arrange group bookings for snorkelling, glass-bottom boats and introductory dives with certified operators.
- Evenings. Quiet, with dinners at the resort or at a beach shack. Alcohol may be available in licensed places; please do not drink before water activities.
- Rules. Reef etiquette, no collection of shells or corals, and respect for local communities.
Tips for group leaders
Appoint one person to coordinate with us. Confirm IDs and names exactly as on flight tickets. Brief everyone on safety, dress and reef rules. Keep a buffer for weather.
A note on safety for groups
Group trips and water activities need extra care. Make sure everyone is comfortable in the water, tell the operators about non-swimmers and children, and keep the group together on boats. Avoid alcohol before activities, and agree who is responsible for headcounts. A good operator will welcome these conversations.
Keeping everyone happy
Groups have different appetites for activity. Some want to dive every day, others want to read on the beach. We plan a few shared anchors, such as the first sunset and one boat day, and leave the rest flexible, so that people can choose their own pace without feeling left out.
Customising
Add a Baratang day, a night on Neil, a scuba day or a group dinner on the beach. Share your group size and dates and we will price it.
