Route: Kochi - Munnar - Alleppey - Kovalam or Varkala - Thiruvananthapuram
Places covered: Kochi, Munnar, Alleppey, Kovalam, Varkala
This plan gives you the three Kerala moods in six days: cool hills, slow water and a warm sea. It is designed for couples who want to see the highlights, but not at the cost of rest. There are only three bases, and the longest drive is under five hours.
Who it suits
Honeymooners, anniversary trips and couples who want a mix of scenery and quiet time. It works from September to March, and with adjustments in the monsoon. If you prefer a quiet resort stay to a busy itinerary, we can reduce the sightseeing and extend your stay at one base.
How the days flow
You land in Kochi and drive to Munnar for two nights, with a tea estate walk, a viewpoint and an evening by the fire. On day three you descend to the backwaters for a private houseboat night, with dinner on the water. The next day you drive to Kovalam or Varkala for two nights by the sea. The last day is a relaxed departure from Thiruvananthapuram.
What makes it romantic
- A cottage or cosy room in Munnar, chosen for views and quiet.
- A private houseboat night, with a candlelit dinner if you wish.
- A beachfront or cliff-top stay, with sunsets and a free day.
- A private car, so that you can stop wherever you like.
- Optional extras, such as a couples' massage, a photographer or room decoration.
Honest notes
Munnar is cool, so bring warm clothes. The houseboat is atmospheric, but cabins are compact, and air-conditioning may only run at night. The beach is lovely but the sea can be rough; swim only at lifeguarded areas. In the monsoon, expect rain and landslide-related changes.
Choosing between Kovalam and Varkala
Kovalam is easier for resort comfort, swimming and facilities. Varkala is more atmospheric, with cliffs and cafes, but the sea is rougher. We can arrange either.
What a typical day feels like
You wake to mist or sea air, linger over breakfast and then do one thing: a tea walk, a canal, a beach. Lunch is slow and the afternoon is yours. In the evening you meet for dinner, perhaps by candlelight if you arranged it. There is no schedule to chase, and that is the point of a honeymoon.
Customising
Add a night, upgrade to a luxury resort, include Thekkady or replace Munnar with Wayanad. Tell us your dates and the mood you want, and we will adapt the plan.
