Rajasthan is a natural choice for group travel. The sights are dramatic, the hotels are used to groups, and the circuit lends itself to shared vehicles and shared meals. But groups also move slowly, and one late person can cost an hour, so planning needs more care than it does for a couple.
What changes for a group
- Vehicles. From a tempo traveller for ten to fourteen people to multiple cars or a mini-coach for larger groups. Narrow lanes in old cities limit vehicle size at some hotels.
- Rooming. Twin, triple and family rooms arranged in advance.
- Meals. Group lunches and dinners at set times, with vegetarian, Jain and other requirements arranged.
- Timing. Ticket queues and photo stops take longer with a group, so we add a margin.
- Camps. Desert camp tents can be arranged by group, though availability is limited in peak season.
Popular formats
- Delhi round trip. Delhi, Agra and Jaipur as a five or six day tour.
- Royal Rajasthan. Jaipur, Jodhpur, Jaisalmer and Udaipur in eight or nine days.
- Desert and forts. A shorter trip focused on Jodhpur and Jaisalmer, with a night in a camp.
- Pilgrimage-oriented tours. Pushkar, Ajmer and Nathdwara combined with sightseeing.
Tips for group leaders
Confirm the final headcount early. Collect ID details in advance for monument and hotel bookings. Keep a buffer for each day, and agree who pays for extras such as camel rides, boat trips and safaris. Brief participants on dress, heat and the dos and don'ts at temples.

Frequently Asked Questions

How many days do I need for Rajasthan?
Six to eight days covers a classic circuit such as Jaipur, Jodhpur and Udaipur without rushing. A four-day trip works for Jaipur plus one more city. Adding Jaisalmer, Pushkar or Ranthambore needs nine or ten days, because road legs are long and each place deserves at least a night.
Is a night in a desert camp worth it?
It can be a highlight if you choose carefully. A camp near Sam or Khuri gives sunset on the dunes, folk music and a night sky, but some camps are crowded and loud. Ask about the tent type, bathrooms, distance from the main dune stretch and noise policies, and avoid camps that offer motor-vehicle dune bashing.
Is it better to travel between cities by train or road?
Both work. Trains such as the Vande Bharat services linking Delhi, Jaipur and Jodhpur are fast and comfortable on those sectors. For Udaipur, Jaisalmer and Pushkar, a private car with driver is usually more flexible, and lets you stop at Ranakpur, Pushkar or village viewpoints on the way.
