Uttarakhand Pilgrimage Packages

Spiritual journeys in Haridwar, Rishikesh and the Char Dham shrines, planned around registration, weather and the physical demands of the route.

Need a different route or pace?

Tell us your travel dates, group size, starting point, preferred stay category and budget range. We will use those details to prepare a more relevant Uttarakhand plan.

For many travellers, Uttarakhand is first of all a sacred land. The Ganga and Yamuna begin here, the rivers meet at the Prayags, and the Char Dham shrines draw millions of pilgrims every season. A pilgrimage is not an ordinary holiday. It requires registration, patience, physical stamina and respect for the weather. Our plans aim to make it safer and calmer.

What a pilgrimage plan covers

  • Registration guidance, with up-to-date information on the process for Char Dham routes and helicopter bookings.
  • Realistic timelines. Seven to nine days for Kedarnath and Badrinath, with weather buffers.
  • Comfortable stays, within what is available on pilgrim routes, which can be basic.
  • A driver who knows the mountain roads.
  • Options for older pilgrims, such as helicopters or ponies, where permitted, and extra rest days.
  • Respectful pacing, with time for darshan, aarti and quiet.

Season and dates

The Char Dham shrines usually open in late April or May and close in November, with exact dates announced each year. May and June are crowded, and September and October are calmer and often clearer. Heavy rain in July and August can close routes. Winter closes the shrines.

Honest notes for pilgrims

Kedarnath is physically demanding and sits above 3,500 metres. Elderly pilgrims should seek medical advice and consider the helicopter option, subject to availability and weather. Queues can be long. Accommodation near the shrines is limited and simple. Roads are exposed to landslides, so spare days are essential. Rules, fees and slots change, and we confirm them close to your dates.

Where to begin

See the Kedarnath and Badrinath yatra, 7 nights. For a gentler pilgrimage, the Uttarakhand classic covers Haridwar and Rishikesh.

Tell us your dates, the age of the pilgrims and any health notes and we will plan around them.

Helpful answers

Frequently Asked Questions

Is registration mandatory for the Char Dham Yatra?

Yes. Pilgrims have been required to register on the Uttarakhand government's portal before travelling to Yamunotri, Gangotri, Kedarnath and Badrinath, and helicopter bookings need completed registration. Fees, slots and rules change from year to year, so we confirm them close to your dates and help with the paperwork.

How difficult is the Kedarnath trek?

The walk from Gaurikund is about 16 km and climbs to over 3,500 metres, so it is demanding for children, older travellers and anyone with heart or lung conditions. Ponies, palanquins and helicopters are available, subject to rules and weather. Start early, pace yourself, carry rain gear and keep spare days for weather.

Is it safe to visit Uttarakhand in the monsoon?

It can be done, but it carries real risk. Heavy rain in July and August causes landslides and road closures, especially on the routes to Kedarnath, Badrinath and the Kumaon hills. If you must travel then, choose lower destinations such as Rishikesh and Dehradun, keep dates flexible and follow weather and district alerts.
